Backstory

One of our good friends Petar reached out to us to work with us on the backend of his YouTube channel. At the start he was completely clueless about what he needed to do in order to monetize his info-product business through YouTube. As we talked we noticed that we could implement a few things within his YouTube channel to start generating more revenue with his info-product business.

Since he has a course already that was selling okay, he wanted to scale that further with YouTube. This is where we came in to plan out his ideas, structure his content and create a winning strategy so that he can scale his info-product business on autopilot and within the next 4 months of working together, we did just that. His channel was mainly in Croatian language but this exact strategy and approach can be taken into any language. Language is just a communication type.

Content Positioning

Most of Petar’s (Brki) ideas before were “boring” and not generating any substantial revenue for him. His videos were not targeting his ICP (ideal customer profile) and the videos were not educational. Simply put, these videos did not solve any specific problem of his audience which was a big PROBLEM that we had to fix.

We started doing a few things to improve his content:

  • Researching his older content (studying what he did before).
  • Researching his competitors (and what they were doing).
  • Learning more about his ICP’s (along with him)
  • Understanding his ICP and their paint points
  • Extracting those pain points and turning them into video ideas

From here we had an understanding of what his audience needs and what type of content they are already consuming. We did not reinvent the wheel, we simply noticed a need that his audience has and we created SEO driven video ideas and titles that ranked on YouTube and Google search which in return brought a ton of organic traffic to his channel.

The best part about this is that he didn’t get just any kind of traffic, he got viewers that were interested in what he was selling and all because we positioned the content in front of his ideal customers and ideal buyers. This was the first step in our framework.

Digital Product Positioning Strategy

Our main strategy for promoting digital products on Brki’s channel was very simple. He would start a video with a hook to make sure people are paying attention and then he would subtly mention that he will show something that he is implementing in his business but if someone wants to implement this exact strategy then he can help them out if they click the first link in the description. This was essentially the whole strategy for positioning the product and to make sure people are paying attention we mentioned this at the start of the video, not the end of the video as 99% of people leave the video after a few minutes. 

That’s why it's crucial to mention your product and how it helps people at the start of the video. We’ve also made sure that Brki understands that people are here for an “outcome” not for a “product” so we made sure he positioned the outcome as his product. People bought more because of this and clicked on the links in the description more hence more conversions happened.

Maintenance & Predictability

From here we understood what videos are working and what videos need improvement. We started recording more content based on the content that worked and we tested out some new content ideas as well to make sure we always have fresh ideas on the table for his channel.

In this phase, we understood which videos are getting the most clicks and we understood why, this is the most important part. Most of the videos that gained the most clicks and sales were high-educational videos that had a lot of value inside. Long form content is one of the best possible ways to get people to buy from you because you are essentially building trust with people 24/7 as they are watching your content even while you’re sleeping.

In this case, his YouTube channel acted as a sales rep for his info-product business and the best part is that he didn’t attend a single sales call, this was all done organically.

To maintain predictability we:

  • Started pushing more content out
  • Recreated older content that was going viral for him
  • Advertising (retargeting his organic customers that didn’t purchase from him)

Once we had the data from his YouTube channel, we started running retargeting ads for him to collect all the revenue that was not made through organic. We like to call this “bleeding” revenue. It’s the revenue that is not being made through organic so we had to use ads to supplement organic content. This is by far the best combination and the only combination if you want to scale your info-product or coaching business faster than anyone else in your niche. You simply need to use ads to make sure you are collecting all the needed revenue and not missing anyone in the process. We used YouTube (google) retargeting ads to target his audience.

Results

Our end goal was achieved and during this process we didn’t get millions of views and we did not went viral at all, this was not our intention. Our intention was to reach people that have a specific “problem” and “issue” and then fix that “problem” with Brki’s content, this is exactly what we did. In this process we achieved all the KPIs that we set once we started working with Brki and his YouTube channel.
